Bafra

PictureA Journey of Discovery and Inspiration
In the unspoiled northern part of Cyprus, visitors can experience the enduring culture of the island, enjoying its pretty resorts and walking through its rural villages, nestled in the mountains and made up of authentic stone houses.
When you choose a holiday in North Cyprus, prepare to slip into the relaxed pace of life with a long, lazy evening meal at a local bar, where you can sample traditional Cypriot meze - an endless flow of Eastern Mediterranean dishes served in one sitting. Visit Kyrenia’s harbour-side bars and tavernas, which offer freshly-caught fish, or sample a selection of local and international menus in one of the many restaurants scattered along the coastline. For ultimate relaxation, you can even choose to enjoy a barbecue in the comfort of your own private holiday villa.
Further exciting developments during the summer of 2007 include the opening of both the brand new Bafra resort (at the gateway of the untouched Karpas peninsula on the East coast) and the unique theme hotel, the Kaya Artemis Resort.

Shopping: Kaya Artemis Hotel, which is the only

one in the region, boasts a spectacular shopping

centre for all your needs. If you like going out and
about for your shopping expedition however, close

by Famagusta has an open maket every friday also
nearby in Lefkosa (Nicosia) has a large out door
market area where you can pick up fashionable
clothing, lace, and beautiful textiles. Just to compare,
a century ago the city had 26 different bazaars. A
section of Girne Caddesi is still called the Eski Kadinlar

Pazari or 'Former Women's Bazaar'. This is the place

where women used to sell a variety of textiles and
household items of interest to other women. For your
supermarket shop; there are three main supermarket
chains to choose from – Lemar, Tempo and Astro.
There are million mini-markets selling just about every
item you might need from toilet paper to cigarettes,
from fresh fruit and vegetable to beer and these
mini-markets are open all day and half the night
seven days a week.

Activities: The Bafra region covers 1.5 km of beautiful

sand beach, which has one of the cleanest seas in the

world. Great for sun and sea lovers. Bask under warm

and glorious Cypriot sun and relax or try one of the

many water-sports activities offered by Kaya Artemis.

Visitors to Bafra who desire more than just the amenities

of the hotel will need to travel away from the town into

Bogaz or Famagusta in order to enjoy some of Cyprus

cultural offerings.  There are a variety of museums,

archaeological sites and excavations, hiking trails, and

restaurants to be experienced and enjoyed while on the

island. Additionally, visitors can find places in the area

around Bafra that cater to other activities that the

resort town may not necessarily offer.  Visitors can

travel to the town of Amphora, five miles west of Kyrenia

at Escape Beach, and take diving lessons from the school

located there.  They will be able to go wreck diving and

take day excursions around the entire island nation and

see some of the most beautiful underwater scenery

available. Dont miss out on the ancient Greco-Roman ruins

in nearby Salamis.

Restaurants: You may have already heard the

delights of the Turkish cuisine that tickles and

tantalises your taste buds and leads you into the

world of the Mediterranean kitchen. In North Cyprus,

the concept "eating out" takes on a whole new

meaning as it leads you into the Turkish Cuisine

kitchen. The fresh fish caught just moments ago or

the sizzling kebabs on skewers over an open flame,

lightly toasted halloumi and hummous dip coupled with

the fresh sea air, golden sands, warm breezes and

beautiful sunsets makes the dining experience one to

remember for a lifetime.

Nightlife: Night times in Bafra are sparked with lively

club and a selection of bars located within Kaya

Artemis where every night turns in to carnival. Apart

from that however there aren't many venues you can

choose from in the town itself. Hop on a dolmus or a

taxi to get to Famagusta or just a bit further, to

Kyrenia where the strumming of the guitar and the

mellow whistle of the flute creates a reflection of the

cool moon over the seabed. Bars and clubs in North

Cyprus are always full of energy, rhythm and soul.

From DJ’s to live bands, there is a taste for all.
