Shopping: Altinkum has a good shopping centre with a good

choice of stores, specialist shops and markets you can find

anything from small presents and collection of fine art and

souvenirs to personal essentials. Didyma is the largest mall

whose stock is aimed at tourists and includes clothing,

cameras, leather goods and jewellery. There are also

markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays. You will be more

satified with the bargains if you brush up your bargaining

skills. Some of the best items to buy are leather goods,

carpets and silver and gold jewellery. There is also an out

of town centre at Soke where there is a range of unique

Turkish shops and where prices are lower.

Activities: The town itself is full of charm especially

on market days when the visitors arrive from other

resorts. There are many shops providing a whole

range of goods. Those with an interest in history

will find a large number of archaeological sites

including Temple of Apollo and Ephesus which is

second only to Pompeii in its display of Roman life.

Also in nearby Didim is the House of Virgin Mary

where priests from all over the world gather to

mark the start of Easter. The Aqua Fantasy Park is

a fun day out for both young and old with its hair

raising chutes and flumes. Nearby Kustur is an

ideal place for water sports with its many excellent

facilities. It is possible to go out reef diving and

snorkelling to experience the wonderful diversity of

the marine life. Wind surfing, water skiing and

parasailing are just a few of the activities that are available.  

Restaurants: Altinkum has many restaurants and bars in

the streets leading to the beach and along the sea front

itself. The restaurants serve a wide variety of menu from

fast foods to international cuisine.

Turkish food is very tasty and includes stuffed peppers

and vine leaves, clay-pot casseroles and kebabs.

Nightlife: Altinkum becomes a hive of activity as bars,

discos and restaurants become the focal point of the

resort.  The harbour front becomes a kaleidoscope of

colour as flickering lights reflect on the sea like jewels

from the array of bars and restaurants lining the beach

front.  With so many bars to choose from Altinkum can

be as lively or laid back as you make it.  The harbour

and Dolphin square are lined with lively venues and is

a popular choice with holiday makers as there is

something to suit all requirements. You can dine with

friends at one of the many restaurants or chat over a

cold beer in one of the bars.
